THE PIKES PEAK SERTOMAN
Now in our 62nd Year

Meeting on November 19, 2009

A record number (at least in the past several months) of 21 members showed up for our monthly fellowship meeting. Several (including Coach) were fined by Willie Horst for not wearing their Sertoma shirts. Rod Wells (red face and all) stood in for Eric and started us with the Sertoma Song followed by When You’re Smiling. Thanks to Bob Mossey for leading us in prayer and Skip Hale directing us in the pledge. Our chef, presented us with what he called, Kung Pau Beef which everyone seemed to enjoy. George Thomas forgot to bring the cookies and was duly fined by Willie! Any member choosing not to have the main meal has the opportunity to select a salad which more and more members do. You just have to tell the wait staff when you arrive that you prefer a salad.

Guest Sertomans & Guests

There were no guests today but it was nice to see Bill Brummett at the meeting and understand that he is newly married. Congratulations Bill! Also, always nice to see Bob Mossey back!

Announcements

We are still scheduled for HAPPY HOUR at the Sunbird restaurant tomorrow, November 20th at 5:30PM, Wear your Sertoma shirt and bring your wife. The more the merrier!

Bob Louden still has filing cabinets, bookcases and chairs left behind by USA Cycling all in excellent condition. Call him if interested. Bob Mossey announced that it’s ski season and wants to put together a group. Call him if interested.

Rod reminded us that December 5th is our annual Christmas party at the Antlers. Festivities begin at 6:00PM . A sign up has been circulating and if you sign up and don’t show up you will be billed! If you have not signed up and want to go, call Eric Scott. This is a freebee for all senior active members. Let’s see a good turnout by that group!

Rod has received 12 sets of complimentary tickets to a future UCCS Theatreworks play. There may be another group dinner and play in the works!

Business Notes

Rod confirmed that a board meeting was held on November 17th. The discussion centered around attendance at our weekly meetings. Dick Wilhelm suggested that the board may conduct a survey of the members as to their wants and needs. The survey might include their likes and/or dislikes, what they would like to see changed and possible suggestions as to the way we do business. More about this later.
